Germany has made it easier for Nigerians to work in the country in 2024. Here’s how!

The idea for the Chancenkarte, which translates as Opportunity Card, was first floated in 2022 as a way to make it easier for foreign workers to find employment in Germany.

It has now been launched on 1 June 2024 as the country seeks to bolster its scarce supply of young, skilled workers.

Germany requires around 400,000 skilled workers from all over the world including Nigerians. And you may be Wondering why a mighty country like Germany would need so many workers right? Well, it’s easy. With how the world grows everyday digitally, new companies are being built and the demand for labour is ever growing, especially in the field of IT, Healthcare, Engineering, Agriculture, Banking and other sectors. Now this is where you come in!

The Opportunity Card helps you seek a good paying job for one year

The card allows Nigerians to live in Germany for one year, without any time limit from your visa. In other words, it’s your very own temporary Visa.

How can I achieve this?

For you to achieve this, you have to be proficient in the German language, hold a university degree or a few years of vocational experience from your country of origin (WAEC, ND, HND or Degree or Masters certificate). But, you don’t necessarily have to be too proficient in the German language, if you understand English well, then, you’re set. We have a full guide on how you can get an opportunity card with ease.

When is the right time to apply for this?
